The prototype uses salt and antifreeze and has the potential to out-live lithium-ion batteries and could compete in price with new hydroelectric plants and other energy storage methods. The project, codenamed “Malta” isn’t an official project, yet, **[reports Bloomberg](https://sable.godaddy.com/c/24007?id=202375.15697.1.3578e57ad12d2ca8387e4d2092ee8934)**. Previously, scientists have proven that this particular energy storage technique is plausible.
